July 16th: Cairns (Kuranda)
Many people had recommended a day-trip to Kuranda. You can go there by car, but that would Skyrail to Kuranda not be even half the joy compared to the combined cable car and train tour you can catch from Cairns. The cable car (Skyrail) takes you right over the top of the rainforest. There are two stops on the way to Kuranda where you can get of and get a bit of a boardwalk through the rainforest. One of them had a guided tour, which was really interesting.

Enjoying icecream from the icecreamery Kuranda itself is a bit - no, let me rephrase that - a big tourist trap. Lot's of markets where all sorts of useless items are sold, tons of souvenir shops, and an ice cream boutique. The best part was when an aboriginal taught us some Didgeridoo playing basics.

The train back to Cairns The train ride back to Cairns was good and went by some nice lookouts, but it is not as interesting as the Skyrail tour was.

At "home" Jason presented us some enormous steaks he shortly after threw on the barbie. We provided the self made Nachos and the wine. The entertainment of the evening consisted of "The Full Monty" (brilliant movie) and, for the hard core people and enthusiast, the Austrian Formula 1 Grand Prix very late that night.
