July 10th: Rainbow Beach to Whitsundays
Fraser Island The 10th was a strenuous day for Grummy - from Rainbow Beach all the way to Whitsundays. First, we flew over Fraser Island, recognising several places we visited the days before. Even our sandcastle could be seen from the air. As compensation for the missing of Lake Wabby the previous day we saw it from above.

Northtip of Fraser Island We discovered a lot of animals swimming in the ocean below: Manta rays, sharks, and even a huge turtle.

Island close to the Whitsundays With a brief stop in Gladstone, to get some fuel, we continued over several more or less exotic islands. Percy Island, Duke Islands, and Porthoue Island were just some of them. All of them would have been worth a visit and others even worth owning ;-).

Around 5 o'clock we arrived in Shute Harbour, landing at the Whitsunday airfield. Settled in at the Club 13 youth hostel we started looking for different cruises through the Whitsunday Islands and ended up with the Anaconda III cruise (one Greg had recommended). So for the next 3 nights and 3 days, we'll be on the sea.
